FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
LAUNCH OF ART WORLD COMEDY ‘THE ART BASTARD SHOW’ BLURS THE LINE BETWEEN FICTION AND REALITY.
PUBLIC RELEASE FEB 18th 2016.
The Art Bastard Show is a mockumentary that explores what it means to be an artist in 2016.
It will be released for free online at www.theartbastardshow.com/the-film (temp password: bastard) on Feb 18th 2016.
The film follows three clashing Bristol artists and a curator who attempts to unite them as they fail to stage the biggest exhibition of their careers.
The characters live beyond the film in their online guises, utilising social media and obliging national press to create a parody of the labyrinthine art world.
They are:
- Feminist street artist ‘Vaj Graff’, who recently attracted the spotlight of the national press with her recent vandalism of the Queen Victoria Statue, Bristol
- Conceptual titan Toby Glass, known for his uber-minimal works fabricated entirely in masking tape
- Vegan taxidermist Lily Rose, who represents the pinnacle of the nu-folk art movement
- London taste maker Vicky Yentob, the curator of the exhibition and the orchestrator of The Art Bastard revolution
“The Art Bastard Show was made by an entirely independent collective of film makers, artists and comedians who wanted to answer the timeless question; what isn't art?” Chris Lewort, director.
